Southwestern Michigan College, a two-year college located approximately 30 minutes north of South Bend, Indiana, and approximately 30 minutes from Lake Michigan shore, is seeking a Full time Programmer & Software Support Specialist who is motivated and ready to join the SMC Team.
Job Description
Summary:
The Programmer & Software Support Specialist will be providing experienced programming capabilities at Southwestern Michigan College. The programmer will report directly to the Vice President & Chief Information Officer.
The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
1. Write, update, and maintain computer programs or software packages to address user specified requirements.
2. Will assist in developing and implementing network design, and capacity planning.
3. Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for all platforms.
4. Work with customers to determine to change some operations in order to properly cater to future requests and needs.
5. Responsible in creating system operations so that employees can report possible problems that are present.
6. Help with the maintenance on the network and server environment.
7. Assist and recommend additions or changes to the network.
1. Bachelor's Degree in information systems
2. Basic technical understanding of application operations/functionality on an operating system, need to support and troubleshoot.
3. Familiarity with Java, Ruby Rails, Groovy Grails
4. Functional knowledge of SQL
5. Knowledge and practical use of UNIX applications
6. Experience with RHAT, Ubuntu, Solaris
7. Modern office practices and procedures.
8. Oral and written communication skills.
9. Operating principles and fundamental concepts of data communications to manage the data.
10. Good project manager and team player.
11. Able to multi-task with multiple projects at one time.
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
13. Dexterity of hands to operate a computer keyboard as well as seeing to review material for accuracy.
14. Hearing and speaking to exchange information with students, staff and public.
15. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
